Walker Electrical Developments provides PLC panel wiring services for industrial and manufacturing clients across Preston and the PR2 area. Programmable Logic Controller panels require precise, accurate wiring to function reliably. Our NICEIC registered engineers have extensive experience wiring PLC panels for a wide range of industrial applications, working to engineering drawings with exacting attention to detail and producing panels that perform correctly from commissioning and continue to do so throughout their operational life.
More Information
PLC panel wiring must follow the engineering schematics exactly. Deviations, even minor ones, can cause control errors, unexpected machine behaviour, or safety system failures. Our engineers wire every panel strictly to the provided drawings, checking and double-checking every connection before the panel is powered for the first time. Where we identify a discrepancy between the schematics and the intended function, we raise it with the design engineer before proceeding, not after.
PLC panels contain a mix of signal circuits, 24V control circuits, and mains power circuits, each with different segregation requirements. Mixing these incorrectly causes noise, false signals, and unreliable control. Our engineers apply the correct segregation throughout, route signal and power wiring in separate trunking where required, and follow the earthing philosophy specified in the design. The result is a panel that operates cleanly without interference issues.
Every PLC panel we wire is tested before it leaves our facility. We carry out continuity checks, insulation tests, and a functional check of the power supply and output circuits. After installation on site, we carry out a further round of testing and assist with the commissioning process as required. If the panel is being connected to a new PLC programme, we can support the commissioning engineer during the initial power-on and signal verification stages.
Walker Electrical Developments was founded 25 years ago to serve the industrial and commercial electrical needs of businesses across Preston and Lancashire. From day one, we made a deliberate decision to focus exclusively on industrial and commercial work. That focus has shaped everything we do. Our electricians and engineers are experienced in environments that general contractors rarely encounter, including high-voltage distribution systems, motor drive installations, PLC control panels, and large-scale factory rewires. We are NICEIC registered and committed to delivering work that is safe, documented, and fully compliant.

We wired PLC panels for an automated conveyor system at a warehousing facility near Kirkham, coordinating with the automation integrator to ensure the panel wiring matched the PLC programme architecture exactly. Our panels were delivered pre-tested and the site commissioning was completed ahead of programme, to the satisfaction of both the client and the automation integrator.
STILL NOT SURE?
We have experience wiring panels for a wide range of PLC manufacturers used in industrial applications across Preston and Lancashire, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, and Schneider. If your site uses a different brand, call us on 07360 544264 and we will confirm whether we can accommodate your specific requirements.
Yes. We regularly wire PLC panels to engineering drawings provided by our clients or their automation engineers. We review the drawings before starting work and raise any queries or clarifications upfront. Call Walker Electrical Developments on 07360 544264 to discuss your project.
Control panels may include a PLC or may use conventional relay logic and contactors without a PLC. PLC panel wiring specifically refers to the wiring of panels where a Programmable Logic Controller is the primary control device. The precision and segregation requirements are particularly important in PLC panels due to the sensitivity of the digital and analogue signal circuits.
